Exceptional lodging in Burlington, VT awaits you with the Van Ness room. The best, distant views of Lake Champlain in all of Vermont’s seasons are found from this third-floor room. The Queen bed (a full-size head and foot board that were expanded to accommodate a queen mattress set; the Victorian era interior designer only had one bed size to choose from for couples), dresser and small commode are original Charles Eastlake period pieces.
Charles Eastlake was a Victorian-era interior designer – there are many of his design flourishes throughout the house. Eastlake’s book, Hints on Household Taste, is available for guests to read and enjoy.
The cozy Van Ness room is a perennial favorite for new and returning guests. The sitting area in the turret bay window area provides excellent sunset views. There are two wing back chairs, an ottoman and reading lamps in the turret seating area.
The room is wallpapered in a lovely William Morris reproduction print. (Tuttle is the only other guest bedroom that is wallpapered.)
A small desk and chair are tucked into the west-facing dormer window area.
Adjacent to the antique dresser sink is a pocket-door leading to the private bathroom with shower and toilet.
